My name is Sarah, I live with my husband Bob in the heart of the West Dorset countryside.
We have a rescued German Shepherd dog called Honey who is just a soppy dog who smiles at everyone. I did have two cats, Molly and Widget, but both went to Rainbow Heaven just over a year ago. They were twenty six years old. Sisters, born in the same litter.
I have for many years been interested in photography, which started long before home computers and digital cameras existed. When I got my first computer, I soon discovered that you could take photos and put them on to your computer to view. So I invested in a basic digital camera. From that day on I was hooked. I learned basic photo editing and as the years passed by I learnt more and more.
I can't remember the first digital editing software that I used, but eventually I found Photoshop Elements. I think it was shipped free with a new computer. I learnt this with the aid of the free tutorial cd's that came with photography magazines to which I subscribed. So, I learnt how to take better pictures and how to use photoshop elements too. I upgraded Elements every couple of years and my photo editing became more complex. I have now finally upgraded to Photoshop CS5 and have a number of professional Plug ins which allow me to be much more creative. I have been a long time getting to the level that I am at now, and I know that I have loads more to learn. In fact I learn something new almost every time I create a new picture.
I have in my time restored, enlarged, improved and manipulated thousands of photographs. Now, through the contant encouragement (almost badgering) from family and friends I have decided to broaden my horizons and offer my photography editing/ painting skills to a wider audience and go public.
In the past year, I have started drawing and painting traditionally, with graphite, charcoal, and Pastel.
I am taking commissions for these too.
I have a Pet Portrait website and some of my work is displayed on Flickr Please feel free to visit them. I will be be showing most of my work on this blog in the future. Enjoy.
